It is surprising as we write this note to all of you but must inform you all that we have had additional cases of Covid this week in our Home. We have had 2 employees test positive and 1 vaccinated Resident test positive for Covid. It was quite a shock to all of us that a vaccinated Resident was positive, but our “Nest” (Covid Unit) has been reopened for business this week. We have continued testing to ensure no one else is positive and have gone back to wearing N95 face masks and eye protection throughout the Home.
We have cancelled some of our visits scheduled this week, and the Residents are all back to being quarantined to their respective floors. The therapy room, dining rooms and group activities have been cancelled for now along with our volunteers. We anticipate opening back up soon and will evaluate this on a regular basis. As we continue to evaluate our reopening, we will be in touch with many of you about scheduled visits.
Again, we are all surprised that someone vaccinated tested positive, but will continue to practice good infection control policies to help to stop the spread of the virus. Thankfully, most of our Residents are vaccinated so their risk is lower for contracting the virus.
There has been new guidance issued from the Ohio Department of Health this week regarding social distancing, mask wearing and group events in nursing homes, but until we are through this current outbreak, we are postponing making any changes to our current practice at this time.
As always, thank you for your support through this trying time. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Mother Marie Edward & Jenny Nijak, Administrator
