A Smile to Remember
By Mandy Thomas
“I will hold you all close to my heart,” said Jolene aka Jodi as she walked out the front door for the last time. (Or possibly the last time…)
Jolene Logan was the welcoming receptionist you all might know and love, who worked at our front desk for the last ten years! On September 9 she worked her last official shift at the desk. I say “official” because she offered her services if we ever get into a pinch! But as for now, she has retired from St. Paul’s Home.
She worked at one of our other Little Sisters Homes in California years ago before coming to Cincinnati. She had a fond love for this organization and plans to keep in touch and stay involved. She loved working at the front desk seeing all the Residents, staff, Sisters and visitors as people came and went (pre-COVID times of course).
Like many other people in our Home, Jolene was known for her love of dogs. She has several of her own and enjoyed taking care of Misty, our house rascal. She would take Misty on her walks and give her belly rubs and love. Jolene also always had treats for our visiting dogs, for staff members Becky and Courtney’s doggies and for some of our volunteer visiting pups. I am sure all of our tail wagging pups will miss her just as much as the rest of us!
Some Residents wanted to give her a good send-off – gathering on the patio for a farewell tunnel of applause. The Sisters offered her a plaque of gratitude for her kind and gentle service to our home. And we all thank you, Jolene Logan, for your kindness and patience throughout the years! We miss you already!
