150 years in Cincinnati, A Celebration to Remember
By Sarah Steffen
On October 20, 2018, the Little Sisters of the Poor were joined by Residents, families, staff, benefactors, volunteers, and Little Sisters from various homes in the United States to celebrate 150 years of service to the elderly in Cincinnati.
Sr. Constance, lsp from our Home in Washington D.C. expressed the excitement well, “it took Sarah Worthington Peter eleven years and a lot of persistence to realize her dream of bringing the Little Sisters of the Poor to Cincinnati, but she would have found it well worth her efforts had she attended our 150th anniversary celebration!”
A Mass was held at St. Monica-St. George Parish a few minutes away from our home with Archbishop Dennis M. Schnurr as the principal celebrant. The staff and volunteers from St. Monica-St. George Parish were exceptionally helpful in the preparations of this special day.
To all those in attendance and for all those who have helped the Sisters reach such a large milestone in Cincinnati, THANK YOU!
