This year’s Advent Lessons and Carols program involved our Resident chime choir and a special guest chorus. Twenty Dominican novices from St. Gertrude Priory led Advent songs, complete with four-part harmony. Two of them accompanied our chime choir on violin and flute.
Each week, several brothers visit the home; helping in various departments, and leading music at Mass. When we discovered their musical talent, we knew they had to be part of this special Advent program.
This year’s class of Dominican novices is the largest in decades. Twenty-one young men will spend this year studying and engaging in apostolic experiences, including volunteer service at our home.
“Young and old coming together is a beautiful thing to see,” remarked Mother Anne after the Lessons and Carols program. “Brothers, we are blessed by your talent. You have helped us set the tone for Advent.”
