Hellen Scharff, STNA, here at the Little Sisters, has been running for many years. She has completed at least 10 half marathons and 10 full marathons. A half marathon is 13.1 miles and a full marathon is 26.2 miles. This year, she completed the Boston Marathon and Cincinnati’s Flying Pig. This is a huge honor for her because the races were so close together. Any runner would know how exemplary this is!
In the Boston Marathon, she and her group finished minutes before the explosions at the Finish Line. She knows her time was 3hrs, 29min, 36s but has no idea where she placed. For The Flying Pig, her time was 3hrs, 29min, 25s … finishing fifth in her age group and 56th in the women’s group.
Hellen has a goal of running in 2-3 races per year, and she’s already gotten most of that completed in just a few weeks’ time!
She brought in her medals to show the Residents, who just gushed over her accomplishments. When they asked her how she did it, she said, “God’s Grace!”
