To mark the first anniversary of St. Jeanne Jugan’s Canonization, we have launched a special time of celebration and support from August 30 through October 30, 2010. An Open House gathering launched these special days. Friends and supporters of the home enjoyed a closer look at the Canonization ceremony, more information about what’s happening in the home, and a historic ‘stroll’ down memory lane.
Several committee and board members got to experience the movement of a stand-up lift—placing them in the Residents’ shoes for just a moment. Planning & Development Committee member Dave Nesbitt shared, “It gave me a sense of what it’s like to be dependent upon others for the things I take for granted every day.”
Advisory Board member Fr. Rob Waller joined some of the Residents in viewing historic pictures from the Sisters’ archives. “You get a sense of the vastness and depth of the Sisters’ work. There’s real history here, and its alive today in everything they do,” shared Fr. Rob.
