Seeing a B-17 at Lunken Airport

  • August 22, 2012

It’s not very often that a WWII era airplane comes to Lunken Airport.  So, when Dan and Ester Root, volunteers here at the Little Sisters, told us about the Memphis Belle coming to Cincinnati, we just had to go see it.  The Memphis Belle is a B-17 bomber that flew many missions during WWII.

We loaded up the bus and drove down to Lunken Airport, where we spent over an hour looking over, investigating, and hearing Dan tell us all about how the plane works, where it flew, and other interesting tid-bits of info about it.

We thank Dan and Ester, along with Hugh Lynch, another LSP volunteer, for meeting us down there and showing us around!
