September 15th was a great day if you’re a fan of real Italian Spaghetti. We held our Spaghetti Dinner at our Home as a fundraiser for the many needs of our Residents.
The Home was decorated with Italian flags along the driveway to greet our guests. Over 250 friends of the Home gathered to share our special meal and support our mission. Guests also had the opportunity to take chances on our four Gift Baskets: Family Fun Night, a Wine Basket, Happy Homemaker Basket, and a special Christmas Basket donated by Bill & Judy Newbold.
The food was delicious, thanks in part to the wonderful spaghetti sauce made just for our event by the Germano Family of Germano’s Restaurant. Dinner was served restaurant style so patrons could sit inside or enjoy the beautiful weather outside. Volunteers from AJJ, Xavier University and our volunteer corps did a fantastic job waiting on the guests and serving the meal, which consisted of spaghetti, salad, bread, drinks and dessert.
As all could tell, the meal was prepared with much love. Patrick and Regina Germano themselves came to prepare the spaghetti sauce – with a real Italian touch!
One might think that it was just an ordinary spaghetti dinner, but it was much more. It was a gathering of family and friends who came together to assist us in our care of the elderly. If St. Jeanne Jugan were here today she would have been pleased. It was always her vision to join with benefactors, family and friends to work together to care for those in need. Her confidence speaks volumes: “If God is with us, it will be accomplished” and “Give us the house, if God fills it, He will not abandon it!”
The event was a big success, raising over $4,000 to support the Residents of our Home. Thank you to everyone who came out in support of the dinner and to all those who made the event possible.
Spaghetti Dinner A Big Success
