Virtual Vacation Visuals

By Sarah Steffen

I think most of us are dreaming of a future without COVID-19 or reminiscing about a time when we did not have to think about this pandemic. We asked Residents and staff some of their favorite vacation spots so we could think/dream/reminisce about something exciting! Join us as we journey to a few of our favorite places.

One of the top picks of our Home was Gatlinburg, TN. Could this be because it is so close? Or could it be because it is a unique getaway nestled between forest ridden mountains? Gatlinburg is known as a “mountain town” surrounded by the Smokey Mountains and encompasses a great variety of options for visitors. The “typical” tourist attractions: wax museum, Guinness World Records, haunted escapes, and the list could go on. Dollywood was also a special mention because it is so close. Gatlinburg also has many relaxing and more low-key options if you will like renting a cabin up in the mountains, local breweries, or hiking. I mean this is a favorite for sure! Why wouldn’t it be?

Another top choice was, of course, a beach or tropical areas. Some specific places mentioned include Cancun, Orlando, FL, Siesta Key, FL, Spartanburg, SC, Myrtle Beach, SC, and let’s be honest any beach in Florida or the Carolinas or ANYWHERE! Who doesn’t love the beach in some way? The sound of the waves crashing the shore or swimming in the flow of the ocean or digging your toes into the sand or looking for shells and other fine creatures of the sea. I would say any beach area is one of my favorite vacation spots!

Some special mentions include the Blue Ridge Mountains, Italy, Washington State, and VEGAS BABY! A few people mentioned camping which is highly popular in Ohio.

We all enjoy different areas and we each have a unique taste in vacations that we use to relax, unwind, and forget about our own reality.

We had fun discussing our favorite vacation places. Let us know what you think. What are your favorite places to visit? (We hope we can soon get back to them!)
