Preparing for the Feast Day of Jeanne Jugan

  • July 27, 2015

By: Tori Kadish, Laundry Supervisor

Our home is currently working together to build awareness and invigorate the spirit of our Foundress St. Jeanne Jugan in preparation for her Feast day celebration on Sunday, August 30th.  The home has been split into five groups who will make presentations on the different sayings of St. Jeanne Jugan. The themes of her sayings include: “The Love of God”, “Love of our Lady”, “Spiritual Poverty and Trust in God”, “Serving the Poor”, and “On her Vocation”.  The presentations will be held in the Auditorium each day leading up to her Feast day.  You are invited to come join in her spirit August 24 through August 28at 2 p.m.

Also, as many of you may know, Pope Francis has announced that 2015 will be the year dedicated to the promotion of consecrated life.  He has called all religious orders to have an open house to build awareness of what it is really like to live a consecrated life.  The Little Sisters have decided to combine this call with the celebration of their foundress’s Feast Day.  The celebration will be held here at our St. Paul’s home on Sunday, August 30
from 3 p.m to 5 p.m
.

This event is open to the public to come and get to know who the Little Sisters are and what they are all about.  You will be greeted by the Sisters and hear some of their vocation stories.  You will also learn the stages of the formation process that each sister goes through before they become a Little Sister.  You will then be lead on a tour, which includes an inside look into the Sisters’ Convent.  This is a rare opportunity to see their humble living courters and be educated on why they live as they do.  Following the tour will be a closing prayer and Benediction in thanksgiving for the gift of consecrated life in our chapel.

What an opportunity to see into the life of the Little Sisters of the Poor and to do so on Saint Jeanne Jugan’s Feast Day!  Please join us. We would love to see all of you!

“What happiness for us, to be a Little Sister of the Poor!”  St. Jeanne Jugan
