“Who are all these new people?” some Residents have been asking.
“Is there any way we can have a get-together to meet them?” they asked.
In response to their requests, we planned a “Welcoming Social” for all of the new members of our Cincinnati Little Sisters family. This included Residents, staff, and volunteers from the last 6 months or so.
Our favorite emcee introduced those who made it and asked simple questions to help us get to know them. Questions like “How long have you been here?” or, “What’s your favorite thing to do?”
or, “How do you like living/working here at The Little Sisters?”
We all learned a lot about each other! Some of our new members are originally from other parts of the country, others love to read or do landscaping, and some have military backgrounds. One new volunteer, Marti, used to be an Association Jeanne Jugan member at our home in Palatine, Illinois. When she moved to Cincinnati, she looked us up and has been helping in our therapy department and in other very many ways since.
The general consensus from this new tradition was that, regardless if you are a Resident, staff member, or volunteer, everyone loves being a part of the Little Sisters community!
