“Developing “Core” Leadership among the Laity: What works and what doesn’t”Life of Jeanne Jugan Presentations: Part 2 In continuation of our celebration of the Feast of Jeanne Jugan Residents, staff, and Sisters from the second floor joined together to present on the love that Jeanne Jugan had for Our Lady Mary. Many quotes come from Jeanne Jugan about Mary, and the presentation focused on one in particular: “See how Jesus, Mary and Joseph loved one another, all three, how happy they looked, with what kindness and gentleness they spoke to each other. In our little family, it must be the same.”
The group reenacted the Bible story from Luke 2:41-45 when Jesus is left behind in Jerusalem after the feast of the Passover at the age of twelve. Mary and Joseph had left after the fulfilled days and Jesus stayed behind preaching in the temple. Residents and staff were dressed up listening to a young Jesus preach while Mary and Joseph came searching for him. A staff member and resident portraying Mary and Joseph came from the back calling out for Jesus, “Jesus! Jesus! Have you seen our son Jesus?!” The crowd dispersed as they reached the front of the room to find the young Jesus.
After the reenactment, the group continued with a discussion on how we as staff, volunteers, Residents and Sisters can join together as one family. Fr. Joe spoke to say how much the Residents appreciate and enjoy the staff saying, “we, as residents, need to recognize the hard work that the staff does for us and we need to be thankful towards them and treat them with kindness.” At the end we all joined together to sing the song Jesus in the Temple. By this presentation more Residents and staff were in attendance due to the excitement surrounding the first presentation.
Again snacks and drinks were provided for a time of socialization for the entire Home. Many audience members expressed anticipation for group three and their presentation. Stay tuned for more information on the third group!
